Noisewire Interview with Jim Semonik - July 2025

Everyone who knows Jim Semonik will tell he's an amazing human being. What they don't always tell you, however, is how hard he tirelessly works to improve the lives of others. Following his colo-rectal cancer diagnosis in 2008, Jim created the Electronic Saviors compilation series, through which he has raised over $100,000 for cancer research. In fact, he was even was honored in 2019 by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons as a “Local Hero” for his advocacy and impact on the community. Jim takes the same approach to his music work, tirelessly promoting and supporting the artists he works with, as well as creating his own music and performing under the name Red Lokust. If that wasn't enough, he's a local fixture in the live music scene in Pittsburgh, where he is constantly hosting live shows for bands coming through the area.

In this video interview, we sit down with Jim fresh off the release of the seventh volume of the Electronic Saviors series to talk about the new release, what he looks for in bands to bring to his label, his band Red Lokust, his bucket list bands to bring to Pittsburgh, and industrial music in general. Expect plenty of heartwarming anecdotes from his experiences in the music scene.
