In 2008, genCAB released their debut album "II Transmuter" to critical acclaim amongst some of the more discerning fans of dark synth-pop and industrial music. And then? Very little else happened. For a variety of reasons, Dutton became disillusioned with electronic music and moved on to other creative endeavours. Then in 2023, a chance meeting with the people at Metropolis Records reinvigorated the project. Several releases later, genCAB has positioned themselves as one of the leading up and coming dark electronic projects today.
In this video interview, we got a chance to catch up with the leader of the band David Dutton, fresh off a 13 show tour playing both with and in Aesthetic Perfection. We take a deep dive into his experiences in the UK and Europe, discuss what it's like playing in two bands on the same night, his feelings on coming home to Dark Force Fest in the states, and on how genCAB actually started the legacy of Tim Van Horn.
